With nearly 20 years of experience in the fly fishing industry, Jake Villwock is a seasoned professional whose life has always revolved around the water. Born and raised in a commercial fishing family on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, fishing has been part of Jake’s story from the very beginning. It was only natural that he would pursue a career centered on sharing that passion with others.

After earning his degree in entrepreneurship from High Point University, Jake headed to Sitka, Alaska, where he worked as both a deckhand and fly fishing guide. His winters were spent dog sledding in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Deep Creek, Maryland—further deepening his connection to the outdoors. In 2009, Jake returned to the East Coast and joined TCO Fly Shop, working in Reading and Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. In March 2016, he played a pivotal role in opening and managing TCO’s Boiling Springs location. After eight successful years with the company, Jake launched his own venture, Relentless Fly Fishing, which now serves as TCO’s contracted guide service.

Jake guides across Pennsylvania and New York, specializing in trout, smallmouth bass, steelhead, and musky. Through his extensive network of professional guides in Florida, Montana, Michigan, Massachusetts, and Alaska, he also helps clients access some of the finest fisheries across the country.

Beyond guiding, Jake is a respected voice in the fly fishing community. He is the author of Smallmouth Bass Flies: Top to Bottom and Favorite Flies for Smallmouth Bass, and serves as a Signature Fly Tyer for Montana Fly Company. A regular contributor to publications such as Fly Fisherman and Eastern Fly Fishing Magazine, Jake is also a trusted ambassador for leading brands including Hatch Reels, Scientific Anglers, Riversmith, Simms Fishing, Clacka Craft Drift Boats, Scott Fly Rods, and Regal Vise.
